CIS Cup First Round - 3.00pm Saturday

We've got some great match-ups in the first round of the CIS Cup. Division Three favourites Clyde are at home to First Division Cowdenbeath, who won't relish the trip  to the Broadwood Stadium. Perhaps the most intriguing game sees Division One promotion hopefuls Ross County at home to Division Two favourites, Livi. There are some potential bankers for those accas too:- ICT (2/11), Dundee (2/9) and Dunfermline (3/10) look the best of these.

A new Highland League season is underway on Saturday. Last season's runaway League winners Buckie Thistle are 2/1 favourites to follow up again, and they are 1/5 to get off to a flyer at home to Clachnacuddin. 2009-10 runners-up Cove face a trip to Nairn and are 4/9 to make a winning start. But game of the weekend is the clash between 3rd and 4th from last year - Deveronvale away to Fraserburgh. Deveronvale just edge it at 5/4.

Celtic v Lyon - 2.00pm Saturday

Celtic get a quick chance to bounce back from Wednesday's 3-0 defeat in the Champions League. But punters may want to be wary about taking the 3/1 about the Bhoys. With that Champions League game still in their legs, plus new players Neil Lennon will want to try out, it seems more likely that Lyon will be the ones fielding a team closest to their first one. That could make the French side good value at around 8/11.Stakes should probably be kept small.
